"I'm currently in my second year of school at UConn working towards my BFA in Digital Media and Design with a concentration in Web Design and Interactive Media."

 

CURRENT EMPLOYMENT

UI/UX Designer at UConn's Digital Experience Group and I also do freelance graphic design work.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE GRAPHICS IN HIGH SCHOOL?

"I originally had no intention of choosing graphics in HS, but after going through exploratory, I realized I had a passion for design that I didn't know existed. I loved the creative environment and community that graphics offers."​

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO STAY IN THIS FIELD?

"Although I knew that I had an interest in design, I realized I was actually pretty good at it and could make a career as a designer. OWTS set me up with a great foundation that I am now expanding upon with different mediums, platforms, and design pathways. I would have never found this career if not for OWTS and now I can't see myself doing anything else."

DO YOU FEEL THAT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN GRAPHICS BETTER PREPARED YOU FOR COLLEGE AND WORKING IN THE FIELD?

"The impact OWTS graphics has had on my college career is insurmountable. I started my studies at UConn being years ahead of my peers, and still feel ahead of the curve going into my junior year. Due to learning and developing my design skills ahead of time, I was able to start freelancing and working with clients in high school, which led me to getting my first company design job at UConn at the start of my sophomore year. My resume and portfolio have impressed every employer I've interacted with, and I've recently started working in a competitive design position at a UConn facility. Along with design experience, I also have professional client-based experience that the majority of students my age do not possess, and that is all because of the education I received in high school. Overall, OWTS graphics allowed me to start my career early and gave me a solid base of skills that I'm constantly expanding and growing upon. I fully believe that my work would never be at the level it is without everything I learned at OWTS."
